Top 100 Boy Names Of 2022

Exploring the changes in the top 100 names is one of the first things I like to do when the United States Social Security Administration (USA SSA) releases its newest data each spring. In this blog post we will be looking at which names made the cut for the 2022 top 100 boy names. We will also be looking at how the names have moved up or down in relation to where they ranked on the 2021 list.
Changes in rank are shown in the following way:
(4. James ↑ 1) indicates that the name James has moved up one position in rank since 2021, where the name sat in the number 5 spot.
(5. Elijah↓ 1) indicates that the name Elijah has moved down one position in rank since 2021, where the name sat in the number 4 spot.
We can also note several names that made large jumps up or down in the list. Names that went up by the double digits are Ezra, Luca, Santiago, Cooper, Kai, Wesley, Leonard, Walker, Weston, Micah, Rowan, and Theo. Noting especially that Theo and Walker made the largest leaps by far out of both the boy and girl top 100 lists. Theo going up by forty-three spots in the rankings and Walker going up by fifty-one.
Some of the names that rose in popularity are also brand new to the top 100. These names are Walker, Micah, Rowan, Adam, and Theo.
Several names also went down in the rankings. Although they continue to hold their popularity by landing in the top 100 boy names again this year, these are six names that dropped by the double digit in popularity in 2022: Logan, Jaxon, Landon, Jeremiah, Colton, and Greyson.
